Lava to invest ₹1,100 cr in components in next five years

Lava Executive director and chief manufacturing officer Sanjeev Agarwal said the company has applied for multiple applications under the electronics component manufacturing scheme (ECMS) to make display modules, camera modules, mechanical enclosures, and multi-layer printed circuit boards as part of a broader diversification strategy.
“We have the capacity to make 4 crore mobile phones. We have decided to make all critical components ourselves for value addition. We plan to invest Rs 1,100 crore in electronics components for diversification over the next five years,” Agarwal said.
The company started on that journey by starting to make chargers that were designed in-house which Agarwal said is being made at a cost 20% lower than what it was earlier and is more efficient than before.
