Jakson Power signs technology transfer agreement with BARC
Jakson Power Solutions signs a technology transfer agreement with BARC for manufacturing and selling solar powered water purifiers.
The company would build and sell two solar-powered water purifiers using the BARC's technology, Jakson Power said in a statement.
As per the terms of the agreement, Jakson will be granted access to technology by BARC for a period of seven years. It will use the technology to manufacture and sell these products in India and overseas markets, the statement added.
The manufacturing of these products will take place at the company's Greater Noida Plant and is expected to hit the markets within the next three months.
Commenting on the development, Sundeep Gupta, Joint Managing Director, Jakson Power Solutions said, "At Jakson, we believe that excellence attracts credibility. In this context, we feel immense pride in being associated with BARC, India's premier multi-disciplinary Nuclear Research Centre."
It is estimated that 27 per cent of the villages and 4 to 6 per cent urban population in India do not have access to drinking water.
Solar Photo Voltaic driven battery-less units for water purification are designed on the sole principle of ultra-filtration, which is a pressure driven process, the statement said.
It is designed in such a way that the surface waters containing filterable contamination can be made fit for drinking without any salinity problem.
Jakson is also exploring the possibility of manufacturing more solar products using BARC technology, it added.
