'India operations evolved from manufacturing base to global innovation hub': Samsung

The company's engagement with India has evolved from bringing technology to the country to creating technology with India, as it deepens its manufacturing, research and development and innovation ecosystem, according to Samsung Southwest Asia President and CEO JB Park.
"Thirty years ago, many global companies came to India because they saw a large market. Samsung came because we saw something much bigger - we saw potential," Park said.
The South Korean electronics major, which entered India in 1995, currently operates manufacturing facilities in Noida and Chennai, three research and development centres, and a design hub in India. It has filed more than 14,000 patents in the country.
Samsung's Noida facility, among the world's largest smartphone manufacturing plants, has emerged as a key export hub, while the Chennai factory supports the company's broader production.
The company is also exploring opportunities to deepen its local component ecosystem as India seeks to strengthen its electronics manufacturing supply chain.
