The Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) has extended the stay on a tax demand of about Rs 10,833.22 crore against Xiaomi Technology India for a further 180 days or until the disposal of the appeal, whichever is earlier.

The Bengaluru Bench observed that the delay in hearing the matter was not attributable to the assessee, warranting an extension of the stay.

The tribunal also fixed September 21, 2026, for hearing all pending appeals filed by Xiaomi India, directing that separate notices be issued in each case.

The tax demand pertains to proceedings pending before the ITAT, where Xiaomi India has challenged the assessment. The stay will remain in force for six months or until the appeals are decided, whichever occurs first.
