Government denies that proposal for further stake sale in BHEL is under consideration

However, Geete admitted that the performance of BHEL is improving and the company has got robust orders in the current fiscal.

Heavy industry minister Anant Geete has categorically denied that a propsoal of further stake sale in BHEL is being considered by the government at present.

"There is no such proposal under consideration as of now," Geete said when asked about government's plan of 5% stake sale in BHEL. Such a sale could fetch government about Rs 2000 crore at current price.

The government holds 63.06% stake in BHEL. In March 2014, the government had sold 4.66% stake in BHEL.

However, Geete admitted that the performance of BHEL is improving and the company has got robust orders in the current fiscal.

"After two difficult years BHEL has so far got orders over Rs 22000 crore," he said while speaking for the World of Industry event starting from tomorrow.
