Emco ties up with Chinese firm

Emco Ltd on Tuesday announced it has tied up with Chinese electricals company Baoding Tainwei Baobian Electric to manufacture 400 kv transformers.

MUMBAI: Emco Ltd on Tuesday announced it has tied up with Chinese electricals company Baoding Tainwei Baobian Electric to manufacture 400 kv transformers.
The company has entered into a technical assistance and know-how agreement with the Chinese firm, Emco told the Bombay Stock Exchange on Tuesday.
With this agreement, Emco would be able to offer an entire range of 400 kV class transformers to power generating firms like Power Grid, NTPC and NHPC, it added.
Baoding Tianwei is a leading transformer maker in China and has a capability to manufacture transformers up to 1000 kV with an installed capacity of up to 80,000 MVA per annum.
It is registered on the Shanghai Stock Exchange with a capital of 47.77 million dollar. Its sales for 2006 were over 400 million dollars, Emco said.
