"Chinese market for switchgears is nearly seven times the Indian market and offers a great business potential. We are mulling to set up a greenfield plant in China to explore the market there," C&S Director Rishi Khanna told PTI.
He said apart from exploring the domestic Chinese market, the company also wants establish a base there to step up its sourcing activities from the neighbouring country.
The company presently sources non critical items like screws from China. It, however, has not finalised the details for its China operations.
"The intention to go to China is there but by when we go there is yet to be finalised," Khanna added.
On C&S' Indian operations, he said, the company would invest Rs 250-300 crore in its domestic operations to scale up capacities over the next three years.
"Our target is to become a Rs 2,000 crore company by 2011, for which we would be investing Rs 250-300 crore to expand our capacities. The investment would also be made to foray into new product categories like Multiple Circuit Breakers (MCB), Capacitors and Diesel Gensets," he said.
C&S expects to close the current fiscal with revenues of Rs 800 crore.
