Carrier Midea to launch home appliances range in two years

Midea's home appliances range includes refrigerators, washing machines, oven toaster griller (OTG), water heater and kitchen appliances.

NEW DELHI: Consumer goods maker Carrier Midea India will introduce Midea group's full range of home appliances in the Indian market in the next two years to enhance its position.

Midea's home appliances range includes refrigerators, washing machines, oven toaster griller (OTG), water heater and kitchen appliances.

The company, a 40:60 JV between US-based Carrier Corporation and China's G D Midea, is currently confined to selling air conditioners, water dispensers and microwaves in India.

"We are studying the market and we would bring in Midea's group entire home appliances product range in the Indian market in the next two years," Carrier Midea India Vice President (Sales and Marketing) Sanjay Mahajan told PTI.

Mahajan, however, refused to share when and which product would be introduced first in India.

The company, which is targeting a turnover of Rs 1,000 crore this calendar year, said product launches are periodic and scattered as it wants to consolidate its position in the product segments it is present in before bringing in new ones.

Presently, Carrier Midea is manufacturing AC in India and imports rest of its product line.

The company has a manufacturing plant at Bawal, Haryana with a production capacity of seven lakh units per annum and it could be expanded up to 10 lakh units.
