Canon enters document management services business in India

The Indian subsidiary of the Japanese electronics company aims to garner a share of 25% of the estimated Rs 150-crore printing management services business in India by 2010.

NEW DELHI: Canon on Tuesday entered the document management services business in India and said it expects to generate Rs 50 crore worth of revenue from the unit by next year. "Under this unit we will provide corporate houses and enterprises, consultancy and solutions ranging from installing printing devices to managing their entire process of printing more effectively," Canon India senior vice-president Alok Bharadwaj said.

The Indian subsidiary of the Japanese electronics company aims to garner a share of 25% of the estimated Rs 150-crore printing management services business in India by 2010. "Our services will enable corporate houses to save up to 30% of their costs. We will be working on contractual basis, provide them with printing devices and consultancy services and we shall earn on per print," Mr Bharadwaj said.

In phase-I, Canon would be partnering with its customers to optimize their print management. In the second phase, the company would take lead in adding input site which covers digitization of hard copies, archival, indexing, retrieval and workflow to provide end to end document imaging solutions. These would ensure minimal paper usage and flow within the organization to bring higher efficiency in speed.
