Budget 2011: ECSEPC for zero customs duty for zinc strips for blade fuses

Reduction of duty on these raw materials to zero will help the export of fuses to the tune of over Rs 100 Lakhs per annum from India, the present export being zero.

NEW DELHI: ECSEPC (Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council) in its pre-budget recommendation to the finance minister has demanded zero customs duty for zinc strips for blade fuses.

The present import duty for zinc strips for blade fuses is 5%. It has thus recommended that the import of zinc strips may be reduced to nil.

Reduction of duty on these raw materials to zero will help the export of fuses to the tune of over Rs 100 Lakhs per annum from India, the present export being zero.

The fuses manufacturer by the exporter are UL (Underwriter Laboratories USA) approved which helps in competing with Chinese and other sources for the export market.
