The regulatory move comes a year after the CCPA first issued a notice to Apple Inc demanding a comprehensive explanation regarding the reported technical flaws, the timeline of their appearance, and the mitigation steps taken by the tech giant. With issues continuing to linger a year later, sources stated that the authority "has now initiated a detailed investigation into the matter."
Adding weight to consumer concerns, a recent survey conducted by LocalCircles reveals that complaints among iPhone users have risen compared to its previous report in January 2025.

LocalCircles announced it will submit its updated findings to the CCPA to assist with the probe, alongside other relevant authorities. The platform also reiterated its call for a class action against Apple Inc, highlighting that affected users have yet to receive a proper fix.
"The CCPA's escalation of the case and its scrutiny of Apple's software warranty terms is a welcome step," LocalCircles said in a statement.
The group noted, however, that until enforceable directives or penalties are issued, relief for affected consumers will largely depend on "Apple's internal prioritisation and willingness to publicly acknowledge the extent of the problem."
