Voltas Ltd enters technology license agreement with Denmark's Vestfrost Solution

Tata-owned appliance manufacturer Voltas Ltd has entered into a technology license agreement with Denmark’s Vestfrost Solutions to develop, manufacture, sell and service medical refrigeration and vaccine storage equipment in India.

This includes advanced products like ice lined refrigerators, vaccine freezers and ultra-low temperature freezers, according to a media statement.

Vestfrost Solutions is one of the leading developers and manufacturers of innovative and efficient refrigerators and freezers in the bio-medical and cold chain industry and shall be providing the technology and know-how for making the products at Voltas’ facilities in India.


This partnership will leverage the strong brand presence and wide sales and distribution network of Voltas, the release said.

Voltas managing director Pradeep Bakshi said this is a logical product extension for the company. “The strong technology prowess of Vestfrost combined with the manufacturing and distribution capabilities of Voltas, will help us offer many unique and differentiated products to the Indian market,” he said.

Thomas Jørgensen, sales director at Vestfrost Solutions, said India’s rapidly growing focus on medical infrastructure presents a big opportunity for our business.

Voltas is the market leader in residential air-conditioners in India for over a decade and also enjoys leadership in commercial refrigeration products. It has also entered into the home appliances segment like refrigerators, microwave ovens, washing machines and dishwashers through a partnership.
