Solar Semiconductor signed $1.2 bn deal

City-based Solar Semiconductor, a global producer of innovative high quality photo voltaic modules, has entered into an agreement with a Dutch company Solar world AG, for delivery of solar silicon wafers.


HYDERABAD: City-based Solar Semiconductor, a global producer of innovative high quality photo voltaic modules, has entered into an agreement with a Dutch company Solar world AG, for delivery of solar silicon wafers.

"The multi-year contract worth over USD 1.2 billion (Rs 5,160 crore) with Solarworld AG subsidiary Deutsche which operates one of the largest factories worldwide for the production of multi-crystalline solar silicon wafers, which helps Solar Semiconductor's for delivering the highest quality modules to the global market", Solar Semiconductor CEO Hari Surapaneni, said in a release here today.

He further said as a rapidly growing manufacturer of high-quality modules, it is important that "we not use cells from reputed manufacturers, but also employ high-quality wafers to ensure high-quality cells," he added.
