Consumer durable major Panasonic has forayed into the non-electric water purifier segment to tap rural and urban households looking for an affordable clean drinking water solution.

NEW DELHI: Consumer durable major Panasonic has forayed into the non-electric water purifier segment to tap rural and urban households looking for an affordable clean drinking water solution.

The company has launched three models of gravity-fed water purifiers, priced between Rs 1,499 to Rs 2,199, Panasonic said in a statement today.

Panasonic India President Daizo Ito said: "We believe that this initiative will contribute to the Clean India Mission by providing safe and hygienic drinking water to all in urban India as well as in hinterland."

Besides, Panasonic has plans to export these affordable range of water purifiers to other developing economies.

"Panasonic plans to encourage India's growth as a global manufacturing hub with the export of these domestically manufactured water purifiers to emerging markets in the near future," the company said.

Panasonic, which is already present in the electricity-run water purifiers, said that non-electric version is a step further to provide safe drinking water to the masses.
