D-Street-listed EPACK Durable Limited has expanded its small domestic appliances range with the launch of infrared cooktops, a move that comes as supply disruptions linked to the Iran war tighten gas availability and push households towards electric cooking options such as induction cooktops.

At the same time, India is considering a plan to support induction cooktops under the PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana following disruptions in the energy market caused by the conflict, with the aim of shifting at least some households from LPG to solar-powered electricity use, according to a report by The Economic Times citing unnamed sources.

The company’s entry into infrared cooktops extends its existing induction cooktop category within electric cooking solutions. It builds on EPACK Durable’s position as one of the leading ODM/OEM manufacturers for induction cooktops in India.

The introduction of infrared cooktops is the next step in this progression, in line with the company’s effort to expand its electric appliances portfolio as consumer preferences evolve.

Infrared cooktops are seeing increasing uptake in India, driven by a growing preference for energy-efficient, portable and smokeless cooking options. The segment is gaining ground in urban households as consumers gradually move away from traditional gas-based cooking to electric alternatives.

“The introduction of Infrared Cooktops marks an important step in our ongoing efforts to strengthen our presence in the fast-growing small domestic appliances segment. Building on our leadership position in induction cooktops, this expansion within our electric cooking portfolio, including infrared cooktops, enables us to further deepen our presence in electric cooking solutions," said Ajay DD Singhania, managing director and chief executive officer of EPACK Durable Limited.

Singhania said the company is seeing a clear shift in consumer preferences towards energy-efficient, convenient and affordable appliances, particularly across urban and semi-urban markets, adding that the evolving demand landscape offers a significant opportunity to expand its offerings and cater to a broader set of consumer needs. He said infrared cooktops complement EPACK Durable’s existing induction cooktop (ICT) portfolio, leveraging similar manufacturing capabilities and ecosystem.

The addition of infrared cooktops marks a strategic move to strengthen the company’s non-RAC portfolio, aimed at diversifying revenue streams and reducing reliance on seasonal air conditioner demand.

The expansion is expected to support better capacity utilisation and contribute to more stable margins over the long term.
