Godrej & Boyce plans Rs 100-crore facility
Godrej & Boyce (G&B) is setting up a new unit for manufacturing refrigerators under its appliances division.
The investment will be funded through internal accruals. Speaking at the launch of its new sub brand for the premium segment George Menezes, COO of appliances division of Godrej & Boyce said, “The new unit with a capacity of 3.5 lakh units will come up in the next one year and will double the manufacturing capacity of our frost free refrigerators.”
Godrej & Boyce currently has a manufacturing capacity of 10 lakh refrigerators split between Mohali and Shirval. Out of this it has a capacity of 3.5 lakh units of frost free refrigerators which is based at Shirval while Mohali has 6.5 lakh unit capacity for mass segment direct cool refrigerators.
The company today also unveiled its new sub brand ‘Eon’ targeting the premium segment. The new products come with some innovative features including rotating swivel shelf and polybag suspenders. The appliances division of Godrej & Boyce clocked a turnover of Rs 750 crore last year and is targeting sales of Rs 1,000 crore.
