The facility will be located in Gurgaon and will be named as Daikin Innovation and Services Hub. It will employ close to 700 employees. The company’s goal is to build these capabilities in India rather than as a cost-reduction initiative. This facility will be a precursor to a future large scale giant GCC in the country for the group, as per a corporate presentation.
“Success of this project will pave the way for more such centres in India. There is a shift in the mindset of the parent company which led to this opening of the GCC and also due to India’s talent pool. The Indian business will play a bigger role for the parent company,” the executive said.
India is one of the largest markets for Daikin with a revenue of Rs 12,500 crore in 2024-25. The company is also making India a global production hub with export of air-conditioners to Africa, South America, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Bhutan. Daikin is also setting up an export oriented plant in Sri City.
Daikin has made a foray into component manufacturing in the country, including compressors. The company’s India managing director KJ Jawa is also the only non-Japanese in the parent company board in Japan.
