Coir Board ties up with IOC
The Coir Board is joining hands with Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) for promoting and marketing coir products through the latter’s outlets.

KOCHI: The Coir Board is joining hands with Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) for promoting and marketing coir products through the latter’s outlets.
The scheme has been drawn up by the Coir Board as part of a strategy to develop the domestic market for coir. Coir products will be sold from select IOC outlets in Kerala to begin with. It will be extended to other parts of the country in a phased manner. Customers will also be able to place orders at the IOC outlets.
According to Coir Board chairman A C Jose coir products intended for sale through IOC outlets will be procured from small scale producers.
This initiative of Coir Board is expected to boost the domestic market of coir products in a big way enabling the small scale producers to get a steady market for their products, which, in turn will result in more employment.
