Venkatesh Mysore new country head of SunLife
Mr Venkatesh Mysore, the former CEO of MetLife India will be shifting to Mumbai and taking over as the country head of SunLife Financial India.
BANGALORE: Mr Venkatesh Mysore, the former CEO of MetLife India will be shifting to Mumbai and taking over as the country head of SunLife Financial India.
SunLife, the Canadian financial services giant has a presence in India through association with the Aditya Birla group having floated an asset management company, a life insurance venture besides a financial distribution company.
Mr Mysore who has over two decades of experience in the insurance industry replaces Mr Gary Comerford who has re-located back to Canada.
Interestingly enough, Mr Mysore who was responsible for starting one of the two Bangalore-based life insurance private sector players had only recently been appointed as vice-president of international operations of MetLife, the US insurance giant. His replacement was Mr Rajesh Relan who was earlier with Aviva.
Birla Sun Life Insurance is one of the top five privately-owned life insurers in the country (as of December 31, 2005), and as of September 30, 2006 had a sales force of 21,500 advisors in 116 branches serving 95 cities.
Mr Mehmi who joined the Aditya Birla group in 1999 as CFO of the mobile business-Idea Cellular was subsequently elevated as the CEO of Idea. He replaced the former CEO of the insurance venture-Mr Nani Jhaveri who moved to the Gulf.
