Thomson Corp sets up 2nd delivery centre in India
US-based Thomson Corporation has expanded its presence to Hyderabad by setting up a global service delivery centre in the city.
"This is our second delivery centre in India. Our Bangalore centre employs over 2,200 employees and offers services in product development, content and software technology," said Pradeep Lankapalli, vice-president (shared services) of Thomson and head of Hyderabad centre.
Addressing a press meet on Monday, he said, the company was looking at hiring a blend of experienced finance professionals as well as undergraduate and post-graduate students. "Currently, most of our employees in Hyderabad have an advanced degree in finance and accounting. While some of them are ICWA graduates or have a management degree in finance, we also have a few employees pursuing CA," he said.
Thomson Corporation is engaged in legal services, taxation, finance, scientific research and healthcare services. "Our captive centres in India do not offer legal services. However, going ahead, we may look at bringing more services to India according to market demand," he added.
Last year, the company recorded revenues of $8.2 billion globally, registering a growth of 8% compared to 2004.
