Sequoia Capital India to invest $900 mn in 2-3 yrs

The sectors of focus would include sectors like financial services, infrastructure, retail and technology, Sequoia Capital India managing director said.

PANAJI: Venture capital firm Sequoia Capital India plans to invest about $900 million over the next 2-3 years across sectors like financial services, infrastructure, retail and technology.

"Over the last 10 years, we have invested close to $1 billion in startups and other firms...Over the next 2-3 years, we expect to invest about an additional $900 million," Sequoia Capital India managing director Sumir Chadha said.

The sectors of focus would include sectors like financial services, infrastructure, retail and technology, he added.

Asked about the investments the company will make this year, Chadha said: "It will be lower compared to last year."

He declined to comment on specific numbers for the fiscal but said: "We invest when the markets are bit low so that we get good valuation. The market has picked up compared to last year and so the investment for this fiscal will be lower than last year."

Sequoia Capital India has investments across companies like Micromax, SKS Microfinance and Dr Lal Pathlabs.
