Power Finance Corporation shortlists 17 bidders for two UMPPs
Power Finance Corporation that invited bids for two ultra mega power projects (UMPP) short listed all nine applicants for Odisha UMPP and eight for Cheyyur UMPP.
Orissa Integrated Power Limited (OIPL) and Coastal Tamil Nadu Power Ltd. (CTNPL), the wholly owned subsidiaries of PFC, are conducting the bidding process for the 4,000 mw Odisha and Cheyyur UMPPs respectively on design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) basis. Odisha UMPP is a pit-head power project, based on domestic coal to be sourced from allocated captive coal blocks, with an expected investment of about Rs 25,000 crore while Cheyyur UMPP is a coastal power project, based on imported coal with an expected investment of about Rs 24,200 crore.
Applications for pre-qualification were opened on November 25 and 28 for Odisha and Cheyyur UMPPs, respectively after the RFQs for Odisha and Cheyyur UMPPs were issued on September 25 and 26 respectively.
