The feature, built using Microsoft Foundry, aims to simplify payments by guiding users directly to their intended actions without traditional navigation.
The feature can process commands such as “Pay Hemanth 20 rupees” or “Recharge FASTag,” automatically opening the relevant payment interface or displaying the correct information.
The launch comes amid the AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, with policymakers, industry leaders, and researchers discussing the future of the country’s AI strategy. The event has also seen announcements of big-ticket AI investments from major executives, including Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani.
It can also interpret user intent—whether making a payment, completing a purchase, or seeking support—using a hybrid model of on-device and cloud-based processing, while keeping all personal and transactional data within the PhonePe environment.
Rahul Chari, PhonePe’s CTO, said the launch represents a shift from transactional tools to a more intelligent interface that anticipates user needs. “AI enables us to build an interface that understands intent, not just inputs, and delivers value without compromising privacy or security,” he said.
Microsoft India and South Asia President Puneet Chandok highlighted the role of Microsoft Foundry in supporting PhonePe’s AI capabilities, enabling secure and scalable digital payment solutions for millions of users.
The feature will be rolled out in phases across India and will be accessible via the Global Search Bar, Help Center, and History tab in the PhonePe app.
