Oriental Insurance to provide cover to Mundra project

NEW DELHI: Public sector Oriental Insurance Co on Wednesday bagged an order to provide insurance cover to ultra mega power project of Tata Power Co in Mundra, Gujarat.

The comprehensive project insurance of Mundra Power Project of Coastal Gujarat Power, a wholly-owned arm of Tata Power, was finalised by Oriental Insurance's regional office in Mumbai.

The project which envisages the construction and commissioning of a coal-based ultra mega thermal power plant with 4,000 MW capacity would be covered by insurance, commencing from the time the equipment leave the suppliers' warehouses till the final commissioning of the plant.

The entire project has been insured against all the risks arising out of the various activities at site, as well as against natural calamities and third party liability.
