Most recently, he was Head of Investor Relations and Fundraising for PAG's private equity division in Singapore, where he served on both the Investment and Exit Committees.
He has also previously worked with private equity firms True North and KKR.
Commenting on the appointment, Sanjiv Aggarwal, Managing Director & CEO, NIIF, said, “We are delighted to welcome Gauravjit to NIIF. We have seen strong support from institutional investors across our successor funds, reflecting confidence in both the India opportunity and NIIF's investment strategies. As we enter our next phase of growth, deepening our relationships with existing investors, bringing new investors into the NIIF ecosystem and broadening our sources of capital will be important priorities.”
“NIIF's role is to create meaningful and investable pathways to accelerate the flow of capital into India's growth. I look forward to building on the confidence global and domestic investors have placed inNIIF, and to bringing new partners with us on that journey,” said Gauravjit Singh, managing partner, global head of capital formation, NIIF.
Prior to PAG, Singh led Investor Relations at True North, where he supported the firm's expansion into private credit and new institutional markets across the US, Europe, MENA and Japan. Earlier, during nearly nine years at KKR in Hong Kong, he was involved in launching several of the firm's first-time funds, including infrastructure, special situations and energy strategies, and played a key role in establishing KKR's presence in multiple Asian markets, including building the firm's institutional franchise in Australia and New Zealand. He began his career in Southeast Asia investment banking at Goldman Sachs.
Over the past 24 months, NIIF has mobilised $3 billion in new equity capital commitments, one of the largest aggregate capital formation efforts by any India-focused alternative asset manager over that period. Earlier this year, NIIF secured commitments of up to $750 million at the first close of its Private Markets Fund II, which has a target size of $1 billion, with fundraising ongoing. In August, NIIF announced the Rs. 19,000 crore ($2 billion) first close of Infrastructure Fund II, representing over 60% of its Rs. 30,000 crore ($ 3.2 billion) target size.
