Prudential HCL Health Insurance Ltd, backed by Prudential plc and the HCL Group, has commenced business operations today.

The JV which is 70:30 owned by Prudential and HCL respectively, had received nod from the insurance regulator on July 1, 2026 to enter over Rs 1 lakh crore health insurance market.

The standalone health insurer, operating as Prudential Health India, will use AI-powered experiences and products designed to address the evolving healthcare needs of Indian families.

As part of its launch, Prudential Health India has access to a network of more than 12,000 hospitals.

The insurer will operate an omnichannel model combining personal advice through its agency network with an AI-enabled direct-to-consumer platform. It will also offer digitally enabled services to help customers select health insurance cover, manage policies and access support.
