The insurance plan is available in two variants, catering to the needs of a broad spectrum of travellers: Rs 59 per traveler for individuals traveling by train or bus and Rs 99 per traveler for individuals traveling by domestic flights.
As per company's press statement, the launch aims to provide devotees with extensive coverage for various risks, including hospitalization, doctor consultation, outpatient treatment, personal accident cover, loss of checked-in baggage, trip cancellation cover, missed connecting flight cover, and repatriation of remains.
"Users can avail this plan on the PhonePe platform until February 25, 2025 and have access to complete coverage for the entire duration of their journey and stay at the Maha Kumbh Mela, ensuring a safe and secure pilgrimage for millions of devotees," said PhonePe in a statement.

Navigate to the Insurance section on the PhonePe app and select “Maha Kumbh” Insurance.Select a plan based on your mode of travel and add member details.

The Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj is expected to draw a massive crowd of around 40 crore people, posing a significant challenge for crowd management.
On Saturday, speaking on the preparations for the Maha Kumbh, the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of North Central Railway, Shashikant Tripathi told ANI, "... The Civil Administration has given us an estimate that around 40 crore people will reach Prayagraj during the Kumbh Mela... Crowd management is a big subject for us."
To cater to the massive influx of pilgrims for the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, Indian Railways will operate a staggering 13,000 trains over 50 days, including 2-3 additional days before and after the event. This massive transportation effort will comprise 10,000 regular trains and 3,000 special trains.
