Firecracker Insurance: PhonePe launches new plan for Diwali

PhonePe has introduced a new insurance plan offering protection against firecracker-related accidents during the Diwali season. Priced at Rs 9, the plan provides coverage of up to Rs25,000 for a 10-day period, safeguarding users from expenses related to hospitalisation and accidental death due to firecracker accidents.

This short-term insurance covers the policyholder and up to four family members, including their spouse and two children. The plan is available for purchase through the PhonePe app and offers immediate coverage starting October 25, 2024. If purchased after this date, the policy will begin from the purchase date.

This coverage offers essential protection for families, ensuring they can celebrate with peace of mind, free from concerns about accidents or unexpected financial strain,” Vishal Gupta, CEO of PhonePe Insurance Broking Services, said.


PhonePe has launched this product in response to firecracker-related injuries seen across the country during Diwali. Users can purchase the plan in under a minute on the PhonePe app by visiting the insurance section, selecting Firecracker Insurance, reviewing the plan details, and completing payment.

How to Avail the Insurance on the PhonePe App:

• Go to the Insurance section on the PhonePe app and select Firecracker Insurance from the homepage.
• View your plan details, including a sum insured of ₹25,000 and a fixed premium of ₹9, along with the plan benefits.
• Review the insurer's information and get a breakdown of the plan benefits.
• Fill in the policyholder's details and tap ‘Proceed to Pay’ to complete the process.
