UBI signs MoU with Everest Bank of Nepal

United Bank of India and Everest Bank Limited of Nepal signs a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in banking services.

KOLKATA: United Bank of India (UBI) and Everest Bank Limited of Nepal signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in banking services under which its designated branches can issue demand drafts to the customers of Everest Bank and vice versa.

Speaking on the occasion, UBI Chairman and Managing Director P K Gupta yesterday said the agreement has been signed to provide a safe and efficient remittance facility to the UBI's large Nepalese customer base in eastern and north-eastern parts of the country.

The understanding also involves ATM sharing between the two banks. Everest Bank will offer 60 ATMs in Nepal for UBI account holders while UBI will share its 153 ATMs.

Everest Bank chairman B K Shrestha said that the agreement will help its retail customers.
