SBI official murdered

An official of the State Bank of India was found murdered here, triggering protests from bank employees, who shut down all branches of the bank on Thursday.

DEHRADUN: An official of the State Bank of India was found murdered here, triggering protests from bank employees, who shut down all branches of the bank on Thursday.

The body of Kamal Gairola, 48, was found lying in a pool of blood inside the SBI's ONGC extension counter last evening.

The murder came to light when some employees carrying cash entered the branch. Gairola had been repeatedly stabbed, police said.

As the news of Gairola's murder spread, angry SBI employees closed down all branches of the bank here. They also held a protest march and blocked traffic for nearly one hour.

Four persons have been arrested in connection with the murder.
