Deutsche Bank's asset management arm Deutsche Asset Management has launched its first Gilt fund with an objective to invest in government papers.

MUMBAI: Deutsche Bank's asset management arm Deutsche Asset Management has launched its first Gilt fund with an objective to invest in government papers.

DWS Gilt Fund is an open-ended gilt fund that offers investors the opportunity to invest in an actively-managed portfolio of government securities, Deutsche Asset Management said in a statement.

Gilt funds are those mutual funds that invest in different types of medium and long-term government securities in addition to top quality corporate debt.

With investors during risk averse, the fund is designed to take advantage of changing interest rate trends and outlook by investing in gilts of varying maturities, it said.

"The possible return of a softer interest rates regime and the single digit inflation scenario can lead to a positive momentum in gilts," said Deutsche Investments CEO Suresh Soni.

Available in the two options of institutional and regular plan, the fund closes on October 21. PTI
