Band of Angels to invest in Sanshadow

NEW DELHI: Band of Angels India, a group of successful entrepreneurs looking to invest in seed stage start-ups, is picking up 20-30% stake in Delhi-based intellectual property research company Sanshadow Consultants.

The investment in Sanshadow, a company promoted by intellectual property rights (IPR) consultant Shaleen Raizada, has been spear-headed by 4-5 individual investors under the aegis of Band of Angels (BoA), including Mohit Goyal and Saurabh Srivastava.

When contacted, Mr Goyal said BoA has decided to pick up minority stake in the company but declined to disclose the investment amount. “The company offers a strong investment opportunity as it is built on a niche and scaleable model.

As in the case of our other investments, one of the investors will sit on the board of the company,” Mr Goyal said. Sanshadow provides technical support around patent and IP issues and its scope of operations cover pre-filing activities, prior art searching of patents, analysis and strategic reports.

“Sanshadow is positioning itself as a KPO firm with a consultancy offering. We are now also planning to offer services to overseas market like US and Europe,” Ms Raizada said.

The Band of Angels brings together highly successful entrepreneurs and CEOs from India and globally who are interested in investing in start up or early stage ventures which have the potential of creating value.

In addition to money, it provides access to mentoring, its vast network and inputs on strategy as well as execution. It looks at investment opportunities in areas such as IT products and services, re-tail, internet, technology in telecom and embedded domains, high end BPO/KPO, biotech and pharma and media and entertainment.

Earlier this year, BoA invested in Knowcross, which focuses on developing next-generation technology solutions for the hospitality industry.
