At Day 1 of ET Future of Money Summit, policymakers and leaders to discuss financial inclusion, CBDCs, gender and finance, and more

On Day 1 of ET Future of Money Summit 2022, top policymakers, including Minister of State for Finance Dr Bhagwat Karad, and industry leaders will share insights on the changing face of money and hold crucial deliberations around the themes of financial inclusion, women and money, fintech startup innovations, central bank digital currencies, and the role of blockchain technology in finance.

Scheduled for July 26 and 27, the ET Future of Money Summit 2022 will be held as a fully virtual event that will be streamed simultaneously across ET.com, ET Future of Money website, and ET social platforms from 11:30 am onwards on each of the two days.

The event, which has Cashfree Payments as associate partner and Niyogin Fintech as co-associate partner, will bring together over 20 eminent speakers to deliver nearly 10 hours of content across 15+ sessions.

Here’s a look at the tracks, themes, and speakers to watch on Day 1 of ET Future of Money Summit:

• Inaugural keynote address by Dr. Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad, Minister of State - Ministry of Finance, Government of India

ET Future of Money Summit will commence with an inaugural keynote address by Dr. Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad, Minister of State - Ministry of Finance, Government of India. In a virtual conversation with Vinay Pandey, Resident Editor - North, Economic Times, MoS Finance Dr. Karad will speak on the roadmap for accelerating financial inclusion for 1.3 billion Indians, while outlining the steps and initiatives the Narendra Modi-led government is focusing on to drive digital financial inclusion for the underserved and unbanked in India.

Following MoS Finance Dr. Karad’s address will be a Keynote by Sanjeev Sanyal, Member of the Economic Advisory Council of the Prime Minister & Secretary to Government of India, who will share his insights on ‘The changing face of money and its implications on the Indian economy,’ in a virtual fireside conversation with Deepshikha Sikarwar, Senior Economic Editor, Economic Times.

• Financial inclusion track

A special track on Financial Inclusion will be dedicated to discussions on leveraging fintech to drive financial inclusion and awareness, and will feature two separate one-on-one interactions with Nithin Kamath, Founder and CEO, Zerodha and Tashwinder Singh, MD & CEO, Niyogin Fintech.

Speaking with Miloni Bhatt, Editor - Digital Broadcast, ET.com, Zerodha’s Kamath will speak on leveraging fintech innovations and investments for good by looking beyond just profits and financial targets to achieve real impact at scale. In a similar vein, neobank Niyogin’s Singh will elaborate on how Niyogin Fintech is easing access to capital for MSMEs and driving financial inclusion.

• A track dedicated to gender and finance

A dedicated Women and Money track will draw special attention to the need for financial empowerment of women. Shinjini Kumar, Aditi Sholapurkar, and Chaitra Chidanand, Co-founders of fintech startup SALT, will deliberate on why they believe the future of finance is female while also charting out a roadmap for boosting financial independence for women.

• Startup Spotlight track: Zolve and Hyperface

The Summit will also feature a Startup Spotlight track to provide a platform for innovative fintech startups like Hyperface and Zolve to showcase the different ways they are solving unique problems in the financial sector.

Aishwarya Jaishankar, Co-founder, Hyperface will shed light on ‘How Hyperface is reinventing, simplifying, and improving access to credit cards’ while Raghunandan G, Founder and CEO, Zolve will give an overview of the impact potential of ‘India's first neobank focused on providing financial access to migrants in the US.’

• Blockchain and digital assets track

In a panel discussion moderated by Apoorva Mittal, Special Correspondent, ETtech, Tarusha Mittal, Co-founder, Unifarm & OpenDeFi, Kaavya Prasad, Founder, Lumos Labs, Pranav Sharma, Founding Partner, WoodStock Fund, and Adrian Jonklaas, CFO, Covalent will talk about ‘How blockchain is revolutionizing the financial services industry.’

• Closing session on CBDCs

Day 1 of ET Future of Money Summit 2022 will close with a closing keynote by Eswar Prasad, Tolani Senior Professor of Trade Policy, Cornell University, and author of the book titled Future of Money. In a conversation with ET.com’s Miloni Bhatt, Prasad will share insights on ‘The coming wave of CBDCs and global lessons for India.’
