Yokohama expands Geolandar X-CV range to 37 sizes, targets India's SUV market

Yokohama India plans to add five new sizes to its Geolandar X-CV tyre range, taking the number of locally manufactured sizes from 32 to 37, the company said in a statement on Monday.

The expansion is aimed at India's growing crossover SUV segment. With the addition of the five sizes, the company said the Geolandar X-CV range is set to become India's largest dedicated crossover tyre range.

The new sizes cover 16-inch to 20-inch applications, extending the range across compact, mid-size and larger premium SUVs. According to the company's internal reference table, the new sizes include fitments for the Tata Curvv, Jeep Compass (older model), Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, Kia Carens, Mahindra XUV 3XO, MG Astor, MG ZS, Toyota Innova Crysta, Tata Harrier, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV 500, Mahindra XUV 700, Volvo XC60 and Mahindra BE 6.

Commenting on the expansion, Harinder Singh, managing director at Yokohama India, said, “This expansion is a direct extension of our manufacturing strategy for India. The SUV segment is growing rapidly and diversifying across price points and vehicle types, and our production capabilities need to keep pace with that shift. Taking Geolandar X-CV to 37 locally produced sizes strengthens our ability to serve this segment at scale and reinforces our position in the premium tyre category.”

The company said the expansion is part of its ongoing efforts to grow its manufacturing footprint in India and localise a larger share of its product portfolio. It added that the move reflects changing tyre requirements as automakers introduce new SUV models and body styles.
