KTM has sharply revised prices of its 390 range, which includes the 390 Duke and 390 Adventure X, by up to Rs 40,000. The move comes after Bajaj Auto decided to stop absorbing the higher GST applicable to motorcycles above 350cc, a cost it had been temporarily shielding customers from since last September. The move also appears aimed at making room in the lineup for upcoming sub-350cc KTM models.

The KTM 390 Duke has received the steepest increase. Its ex-showroom price in Delhi now stands at Rs 3.39 lakh, up by Rs 40,000 from its earlier tag of Rs 2.99 lakh. Until now, Bajaj had absorbed the impact of the revised 40 percent GST slab, allowing KTM to stay competitively priced. With that buffer removed, the correction has now been passed on to buyers.

The KTM 390 Adventure X has also seen a price bump, though smaller in comparison. It is now priced at Rs 3.43 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), reflecting a Rs 17,000 increase over its previous price of Rs 3.26 lakh. However, the broader picture shows a much larger jump. Since its launch at Rs 2.91 lakh, the bike’s price has risen by nearly Rs 52,000, driven by feature updates as well as tax-related revisions. In many cities, this pushes its on-road cost close to—or even beyond—Rs 4 lakh.

Following the hike, the price gap between the 390 Duke and the 250 Duke has widened to around Rs 1.22 lakh.

Meanwhile, Bajaj is reportedly working on new KTM models with engine capacities below 350cc. These would benefit from a lower 18 percent GST rate, similar to the strategy seen with newer mid-capacity motorcycles in the market. The company is believed to be developing a downsized version of the existing 399cc engine to fit under this threshold.

According to reports, both the current 399cc models and the upcoming sub-350cc versions could be sold alongside each other initially, giving buyers more flexibility across price points and performance levels. Over time, the future of the existing 390 range may depend on how well the smaller-capacity versions perform.

There is still no official confirmation on whether other KTM 390 models, including the RC 390 and the 390 Enduro, will see similar price revisions, though such changes are widely expected in the near future.
