This comes following the discontinuation of of 125 Duke, suggesting the upcoming bike will replace it as the company's most accessible vehicle. The motorcycle is expected to be developed exclusively for the Indian market, with no immediate plans for global rollout, TOI reported.
The new bike will become the new entry point into KTM’s lineup, replacing the now-discontinued 125 Duke. The teaser confirms that KTM is ready to take on the highly competitive 160cc segment with a stronger, more performance-focused offering.
The KTM 125 Duke, despite being the most affordable model in the brand’s portfolio, struggled with slow sales primarily due to its high price-to-performance ratio. By contrast, the new 160 Duke aims to offer more power and better value, bringing KTM’s styling and performance DNA to a broader audience.
KTM Duke 160: Expectations
KTM Duke 160 is expected to be based on the second-generation KTM 200 Duke platform, featuring 43mm USD front forks, a trellis frame, rear monoshock suspension, dual-channel ABS, and a digital LCD instrument cluster. It is also expected to feature LED lighting, sculpted tank extensions, and new graphics to distinguish it in the segment. As per reports, the KTM 160 Duke is expected to be powered by a 160cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. Though official figures are awaited, it will likely deliver 19–20bhp, which would give it a performance edge over rivals like the Yamaha MT-15 (18.4bhp). This would be a significant jump from the 125 Duke’s 14.5bhp should translate into a noticeably more engaging ride experience.
The launch of the KTM 160 Duke is expected soon, in time for the festive season.
