The company, which launched two scrambler bikes, Yezdi Scrambler 350 and BSA Scrambler 650, at introductory prices starting at Rs 1,99,950 and Rs 3,24,950 respectively, plans to launch four models this fiscal, Thareja told PTI here in an interview.
"What SUVs did to the car market, this (scrambler bike) has the potential to do with the motorcycle market. So, we are creating the SUV of motorcycles -- that is the category we are creating," he said on the rationale behind the company's focus on the scrambler segment.
Scrambler bikes are built for off-road and street use.
Bullish on future growth, he said, "For the full year, the 200 cc plus segment has grown by 19 per cent, and we have grown by 55 per cent." The company is now the "fastest growing motorcycle company in that segment", albeit on a low base, he added.
"In India, I think this (scrambler) will become the fastest growing segment (in motorcycle market)," Thareja said.
While the new Yezdi Scrambler 350 is designed to attract customers who are initiating into biking, the BSA 650 is a global bike for the evolved rider, he noted.
Keeping in sync with its growth ambition, Classic Legends is also stepping up its sales and service network expansion, Thareja said.
The company is planning to increase dealerships to 500 in India by FY27, up from 360 in FY26, he added.
With the top 80 cities accounting for around 90 per cent of sales of such bikes, Thareja said the expansion strategy would be -- "to be represented there", and then deepen presence gradually.
