Suzuki Motor denies tie-up talks with Toyota Motor Corp

Suzuki Motor Corporation, promoters of Maruti Suzuki, has denied any alliance with bigger rival Toyota Motor Corp.

NEW DELHI: Suzuki Motor Corporation, promoters of Maruti Suzuki, has denied any alliance with bigger rival Toyota Motor Corp, but said the world’s largest carmaker taking 100 per cent control in small vehicle maker Daihatsu will toughen competition in India and other global markets.

Toshihiro Suzuki, president and chief operating officer at Suzuki Motor, told reporters here on Tuesday that the company will largely focus on bringing products superior to customer expectations and improve levels of sales and service, to deal with heightened competition.

Suzuki is in Delhi to attend the 2016 Auto Expo.

He said rather than tying up with carmakers it is more probable that Suzuki Motor will jointly develop technology with component makers and raw material suppliers.

Suzuki said that the implementation of safety and emission regulations in cars will raise prices and the company is working on minimising the price impact on customers.
