This marks the first commercial sale of vehicles under the AMPSTAR brand.
The order is for 100 AMPSTAR 4x2 55T tractor truck electric prime movers for heavy-duty industrial haulage at JSW Cement in Vijaynagar. The 55T electric tractor truck, first showcased at our AMPSTAR brand launch, represents one of the most demanding vehicle architectures in commercial transportation, said JSW Greentech CEO Sumit Mittal in a press release.
"In just over a month, we have reached a significant milestone, with the first 100 trucks being deployed for JSW Cement's industrial freight movement, supported by JSW Eco-Mobility as Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) partners. JSW Eco-Mobility will provide batteries under a BaaS arrangement and develop a corridor with four battery-swapping stations," the release said.
JSW Greentech said the 4x2, 55-tonne trucks will move clinker and slag on a 330-km route between Nandyal in Andhra Pradesh and Vijaynagar in Karnataka, carrying an estimated 1,25,000 tonnes of cargo each month.
"With an integrated electric mobility solution backed by battery-swapping infrastructure, we aim to reduce our dependence on diesel, lower emissions and advance our sustainability objectives without compromising operational efficiency," said Narinder Kahlon, director for finance at JSW Cement.
Meanwhile, the automaker received certification for AMPSTARs 4x2 and 6x4 tractor trucks under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules from the Automotive Research Association of India, paving the way for the deployment of these models on Indian roads.
JSW Greentech recently entered the domestic commercial mobility segment with the launch of the AMPSTAR brand, under which it will sell electric buses and trucks. In September, the company unveiled the 55-tonne electric tractor-trailer and an electric bus.
It has invested Rs 2,500 crore so far and established a manufacturing unit in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra with an annual capacity to produce 15,000 electric buses and trucks. The facility will have an automated truck-cabin line and an integrated battery ecosystem.
