Ashok Leyland has launched twin-fuel variants of its Dost and Dost+ XL light commercial vehicles, powered by both CNG and petrol. This dual-fuel system offers operators flexibility, lower operating costs, and reduced emissions by allowing a switch...
The new models are powered by both compressed natural gas (CNG) and petrol, allowing drivers to switch between fuels depending on availability and requirement.
The dual-fuel configuration is designed to address the range limitations typically associated with CNG vehicles, especially in regions with limited refuelling infrastructure, reported ETAuto.
"These vehicles empower operators to drive in the cleaner and greener CNG mode and switch to Petrol as a backup fuel when required, ensuring overall lower operating costs and reduced emissions,” said Amandeep Singh, President – LCV, IO, Defence & Power Solutions, Ashok Leyland.
The Dost twin-fuel variant offers a payload capacity of 1,218 kg and a claimed range of around 400 km, supported by a 120-litre CNG tank and a 5-litre petrol backup tank.
The larger Dost+ XL variant comes with a payload capacity of 1,410 kg, a 148-litre CNG tank, and a similar petrol reserve, with a claimed range of up to 500 km.
The twin-fuel Dost range is priced from ₹8.20 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Dost+ XL twin-fuel variant starts at ₹8.75 lakh (ex-showroom).
"The vehicles are designed to provide operational flexibility by running on CNG for cost efficiency and petrol for extended range and eliminating availability anxiety, while delivering lower emissions that reduce the carbon footprint,” said Viplav Shah, Head – LCV Business, Ashok Leyland.
