Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) on Friday announced a hike in prices of cars and SUVs across its portfolio by up to Rs 25,000 ‌startingSeptember 1, following similar announcements by Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai.

The automaker said the price hike will be implemented across its portfolio, but will vary by models and variants, citing rising input and ‌commodity costs amid continued geopolitical uncertainty.

The rise in car prices would cover both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicles (EV).

"This price revision is being undertaken to partially offset the impact of rising input costs and sustained inflationary pressures. While TMPV continues to absorb a significant portion of these increases, a part of the impact is being passed on to customers through this adjustment," it said in a regulatory filing.

This marks the second increase in car prices announced by Tata Motors in the same quarter.

Earlier in June, TMPV declared that it will increase prices of its passenger vehicle portfolio, including both ICE and EV, by up to 1.5%, effective 1 July 2026.

Hyundai Motor India, on August 19, announced that it will hike vehicle prices across its portfolio by up to 1% from September 2026, citing rising input and commodity costs, along with ongoing geopolitical and macroeconomic uncertainties.

"The company continues to make every endeavor to optimise costs and absorb cost escalations to minimise the impact on customers. However, the persistence of these cost pressures has necessitated passing on a part of the increased costs to customers through this marginal price revision," it said in a stock exchange filing.

Last month, Maruti Suzuki India Limited announced a price hike of up ‌to Rs 30,000 from August, its second portfolio-wide hike in about two months, citing sustained cost pressures.
