Spinny delivers 1,370 used cars on Navratri day 1, sets new record: Founder and CEO Niraj Singh
Spinny said it recorded its highest-ever single-day car deliveries on the first day of Navratri. The company delivered 1,370 vehicles, reflecting a significant increase compared to the previous year. Pune was the leading city for deliveries, follo...
The milestone reflects a surge in customer purchases during the festive season, when many Indian families consider buying a vehicle for personal use. Spinny Founder and CEO Niraj Singh shared the achievement in a LinkedIn post, thanking customers and employees for contributing to the record. The company said it completed a delivery roughly every 41 seconds throughout the day. Between noon and 1 pm alone, it handed over 112 cars.
Which cities recorded the most Spinny car deliveries?
Pune topped the city-level tally with 180 cars delivered on October 11. Delhi-NCR, Maharashtra and Karnataka together accounted for 62% of the company's total deliveries across the country. The deliveries were spread across 24 cities, highlighting the platform's reach beyond individual metropolitan markets during the festive period.
Singh said the company had delivered 698 cars on the first day of Navratri last year. That represents a 96% increase in the latest tally. However, he also noted that the comparison came against a relatively subdued base, as GST cuts on new cars had created headwinds for the used-car market around the same period last year.
Maruti Baleno leads the list of most-delivered cars
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno emerged as Spinny's most-delivered model on the day. It was followed by the Hyundai Grand i10, Renault Kwid, Maruti Suzuki Swift and Tata Tiago. Hatchbacks accounted for 55% of all vehicles handed over to buyers. SUVs made up 26%, while sedans contributed another 14%.
Petrol-powered cars dominated the deliveries, representing 82% of the total. Diesel vehicles accounted for 12%, while the company also delivered 66 CNG cars and 10 electric vehicles. Automatic transmissions featured in 33% of the cars delivered nationwide. Bengaluru recorded a higher share, with automatics making up 40% of its deliveries.
Women account for 18% of buyers
Women represented 18% of Spinny's buyers nationally on the first day of Navratri. Their share was considerably higher in Bengaluru, where women accounted for 29% of customers purchasing vehicles through the platform. The company also shared details about the vehicles' ownership history and model years. Around 77% of the cars delivered had only one previous owner, while 46% belonged to the 2021 model year or later.
These figures offer a snapshot of the used-car inventory purchased during the festive period, including the proportion of relatively newer vehicles changing hands.
Half of buyers opted for financing
Financing played a significant role in the day's transactions. Spinny said 50% of buyers financed their car purchases, while 66% renewed their vehicle insurance through the company's partners. In his LinkedIn post, Singh thanked customers for trusting Spinny with an important household purchase and acknowledged the teams responsible for preparing vehicles and completing deliveries.
