Maruti Suzuki's sales rise 20 percent to 1,60,226 units in December

NEW DELHI: The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki Friday reported 14.6% growth in domestic sales at 140,754 units in December.

While sales of mini cars Alto and S-Presso increased 4.4% to 24,927 units, those of compact vehicles (WagonR, Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, DZire, Tour S) rose 18.2% to 77,641 units. The company sold 1,270 units of midsize sedan Ciaz last month, which is a decline of 28.9% compared to 1,786 units sold in the year-ago period.

Wholesale volumes of utility vehicles - Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, S-Cross - grew 8% to 25,701 units. Sales of vans Eeco and Omni were up 46.9% to 11,215 units last month.
