Maruti sells over 2 lakh units of BS VI cars in 6 months
The company has eight models, out of 16, which are now BS VI compliant
Maruti Suzuki launched its BS-VI range with Alto 800 and Baleno, in April 2019, about a year ahead of the government stipulated timeline of April 2020. The company subsequently introduced BS-VI compliant versions of WagonR (1.2 L), Swift, Dzire, Ertiga, XL6 and S-Presso.
Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) said, “We believe that mass adoption is one of the most important factors for success of any new technology. Offering eight BS-VI compliant petrol vehicles in the mass segment, much ahead of timeline, has helped us to reach this technology to a larger customer base.”
The BS-VI compliant petrol vehicles will lead to a substantial reduction of nearly 25% of Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions.
The BS-VI compliant petrol vehicles can run on BS-IV petrol also. The BS-VI petrol cars from Maruti Suzuki have been extensively tested with BS-IV fuel and there is no operational concern, the company said.
