Mahindra launches XUV 7XO: Check price, features, engine details and more

Automaker Mahindra & Mahindra on Monday unveiled the Mahindra XUV 7XO, a premium evolution of the hugely popular XUV700, the model that has dominated India’s SUV market since its launch in 2021.

The Mahindra XUV 7XO is essentially a new iteration of the XUV700. While the SUV continues to be based on the same platform and retains its existing engine options and overall proportions, Mahindra has introduced extensive exterior design updates and a significantly upgraded cabin aimed at enhancing the SUV’s premium appeal and renewing interest among buyers.

Mahindra XUV 7XO: Expected price

The XUV 7XO is aimed at buyers seeking a premium three-row SUV without entering luxury-brand territory. It is expected to be positioned in the same range as the XUV700, with ex-showroom prices likely to fall between ₹15 lakh and ₹25 lakh, depending on the variant. The SUV targets customers looking for a balanced package that blends space, comfort, advanced technology and safety.


Positioned as a mix of family-friendly practicality and an upmarket cabin experience, the XUV 7XO is designed to appeal to urban families upgrading from mid-size SUVs.

Mahindra XUV 7XO: Features

Reflecting the growing focus on premium interiors in Indian SUVs, the XUV 7XO places strong emphasis on in-cabin technology. The highlight is the BIS-approved coast-to-coast HD triple-screen setup, measuring 3 x 31.2 cm, offering a wide and seamless digital interface that goes beyond conventional dual-screen layouts.

The SUV is also being touted as the first in India to offer integrated Alexa and ChatGPT functionality. Mahindra says this integration is aimed at enabling smarter hands-free communication and delivering a more intuitive in-car experience.

Mahindra has adopted an ecosystem-driven approach inside the cabin, with an upgraded Adrenox+ system for more personalised connected features, an in-car theatre mode with BYOD support, ambient lighting to enhance cabin ambience, and a 540-degree camera system with digital video recording to improve visibility and safer manoeuvring.

Under the hood, the XUV 7XO is expected to be offered with both petrol and diesel powertrains. Reports suggest a turbocharged petrol engine alongside an improved diesel option, with transmission choices likely to include both manual and automatic gearboxes.

Mahindra XUV 7XO: Ride and suspension

A key mechanical upgrade on the XUV 7XO is the introduction of Mahindra’s new DAVINCI damper technology. The updated suspension system is claimed to offer better body control and enhanced ride plushness while delivering best-in-class vehicle dynamics.

Mahindra has also claimed that the DAVINCI damper setup helps achieve the lowest noise levels in the segment, across both petrol and diesel variants. To demonstrate the system’s effectiveness, the company released a video showing the SUV driving over a series of speed breakers with a pyramid of glasses placed on the bonnet. The glasses reportedly remained intact and largely undisturbed, underscoring improved stability and ride comfort.

Mahindra XUV 7XO: Safety features

The XUV 7XO is expected to come equipped with Level 2 ADAS under Mahindra’s Sense+ suite. Beyond offering advanced driver-assistance features, the system focuses on clear ADAS visualisation with real-time alerts and graphics aimed at helping drivers better understand and trust the technology.

The comprehensive driver-assist package is designed to reduce fatigue during long highway journeys while also enhancing the SUV’s premium appeal during comparisons and test drives.

Mahindra XUV 7XO: Booking details

Pre-bookings for the Mahindra XUV 7XO are already open at a token amount of ₹21,000. While the official booking and delivery timelines are expected to be announced during the premiere, test drives and full-scale bookings are likely to begin shortly after the unveiling.
