India has emerged as a mature market for bespoke luxury vehicles, with affluent buyers increasingly willing to pay a premium for exclusivity and personalised offerings, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) India Managing Director Rajan Amba said.

The response to the company's limited-edition collections reflects this shift, with 15 of the 18 vehicles in its newly unveiled Range Rover SV Sawai Collection already pre-booked, Amba told PTI.

"I think, in that sense, India has truly arrived. We've been blessed with success over the last three years," he said.

Unveiled on Saturday, the Sawai Collection comprises three editions inspired by Rajasthan's royal heritage: the Sawai Jaipur Edition, Sawai Jodhpur Edition and Sawai Jaisalmer Edition. Each edition is limited to six vehicles, taking the global production run to just 18 units.

Priced at around Rs 5 crore, the vehicles reflect the growing appetite among Indian luxury car buyers for products that offer exclusivity beyond conventional high-end specifications.

Bespoke collections find more takers

Amba said JLR's specially curated market editions had received an encouraging response in India. The scale of these collections has also expanded, from 12 vehicles in the first year to 18 in the latest offering.

"This collection demonstrates the growing significance of India as both a luxury market and a source of creative inspiration," he said.

The company is looking to build on this demand by making bespoke personalisation more accessible to customers. It plans to introduce dedicated personalisation studios in its new, larger-format showrooms and take personalisation kits to customers at their homes and workplaces.

Electric Range Rover models lined up for 2027

Beyond limited-edition offerings, JLR is preparing to expand its product portfolio in India.

The company plans to introduce the Range Rover Electric and Range Rover Sport Electric in calendar year 2027. A new GT model and Jaguar are also part of its planned introductions, Amba said.

The proposed launches will add to the company's offerings as it looks to tap demand across the luxury vehicle market, including the growing interest in electric models.
