Honda Cars India reported a 23% year-on-year decline in total sales to 8,082 units in October, as exports slumped 88%, offsetting the company's domestic sales performance.

The automaker sold 7,609 units in the domestic market and exported 473 units during the month. In comparison, it had recorded domestic sales of 6,394 units and exports of 4,124 units in October last year.

The sharp decline in exports weighed on overall volumes despite an improvement in domestic sales.

Kunal Behl, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Honda Cars India, said, "We are delighted with our strong sales performance in October, driven by robust festive demand and positive customer sentiment across our model line-up."

He added, "The highlight of the month has been the outstanding performance of the New Honda Elevate, which has received an overwhelming response from customers following its recent launch."
