A car of the future: Toyota brings redesigned hydrogen powered Mirai electric vehicle

Mirai operates just like a regular passenger car, while creating zero emissions. "Since its hydrogen fuel can be created from renewable resources like solar, wind and biowaste, Mirai is helping to usher in a new era powered by clean energy," claimed Toyota. The car has a Toyota fuel cell system that offers 153 hp. Toyota claims it takes just 5 minutes to refuel it at any Hydrogen fuelling station.

Mirai, which means “future” in Japanese, comes in an aerodynamic shape; Multi-LED lighting in the front and rear further accent its shape. . Color-keyed front bumpers feature black inserts for a touch of sportiness, with the chrome garnish bringing just the right amount of sophistication. It also has exclusive FUEL CELL badging. Moreover, it has standard 17-in. engraved alloy wheels.

Toyota Mirai has acoustically treated glass helps keep outside noises outside and heated SofTex-trimmed seats. The carbon-fiber-style interior accents perfectly complement the futuristic interior design. You will get a premium JBL audio system, multiple charging points, and Intelligent Touch controls. It has a 12.3 inch touch control and an air purification system too.

According to Toyota, Mirai features a unique frame designed to distribute crash forces efficiently. In the event of a collision, the impact force is distributed around the passenger cabin and the Toyota fuel cell stack and hydrogen tanks, reducing body deformation and helping to reduce the chance of injury. The collapsible steering column also helps protect the driver by absorbing force during impact.

The Mirai has plenty of other safety features too including Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, 4-wheel Anti-lock Brake System, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Brake Assist and Smart Stop Technology. It has eight airbags as well. Plus, the car comes with Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert feature.

Mirai comes standard with a host of high-tech features designed to bring more convenience to every drive. The integrated backup camera includes a projected path feature, making it easier to back into those tight spots. A heated steering wheel and windshield wiper de-icer help bring warmth when things get chilly. And the frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror includes a HomeLink universal transceiver for easier access to your compatible gates, garages and more.
