Vehicle wholesales stood at 41,313 units for the month, while domestic dispatches to dealers climbed 45 per cent to 59,667 units, up from 41,063 a year ago.
“The passenger vehicles industry marked a sharp upswing in demand during September 2025, following the rollout of GST 2.0, further buoyed by festive tailwinds. This surge in demand sets a promising tone for sustained growth in the months ahead,” said Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles.
September 2025 turned into a milestone month, Chandra added, with sales hitting a record 60,907 units, a 47 per cent increase over the previous year.
The surge wasn’t just in numbers.

Customer interest spiked across the board, with new bookings doubling in the latter half of September after GST rates came down. Leading the charge was the Nexon, which sold over 22,500 units in a single month, the highest-ever for any Tata passenger vehicle.
The Harrier and Safari kept up the momentum, fuelled by the Adventure X edition and multiple powertrain options, achieving their best-ever combined sales. The Punch also strengthened its hold on the compact SUV segment.
“Going forward, with a strong booking pipeline, agile supply readiness, and rising demand driven by festive cheer and accessible pricing, we are well-positioned to carry this growth momentum in H2 FY26,” Chandra added.
Commercial vehicle sales rose 19 per cent to 35,862 units in September, with domestic dispatches climbing 16 per cent to 33,148 units from 28,631 a year earlier.
With the festive season underway and GST reforms yet to fully settle in, Tata Motors expects a strong second half of FY26.
