Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles sales rise 15% in September to 70,210 units

The company had sold 144,397 units in the same quarter last year, according to a press release issued on Thursday. The figure covers both domestic and international markets.
Domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 196,674 units in Q2 FY27, against 140,189 units a year earlier, a rise of 40%. International business sales grew 20% to 5,049 units from 4,208 units.

In September alone, total sales rose 15% to 70,210 units from 60,907 units in September 2025. Domestic sales were 68,810 units, up 15%, while international business sales rose 13% to 1,400 units. The company said it crossed the 70,000-unit monthly sales mark for the first time in September.
EV sales up 90%
EV sales, including domestic and international business, rose 90% to 47,150 units in the quarter from 24,855 units a year ago. In September, EV sales grew 67% to 15,384 units from 9,191 units.
EVs now account for 23% of the company's portfolio, compared with around 8% for the industry. CNG vehicles made up 28% of volumes and also recorded their highest-ever quarterly sales. Together, EVs and CNG contributed 51% of the company's sales.
The company's figures include sales of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited, a subsidiary of TMPV.
Industry backdrop
Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and CEO of TMPV, said passenger vehicle demand sustained the momentum seen after GST 2.0, even though the quarter was seasonally softer. Industry Vahan volumes grew around 24% year-on-year, he said, led by rising adoption of greener powertrains.
"For Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, Q2 FY27 was our highest-ever quarter," Chandra said, adding that the company's 40% growth beat the industry.
The company said the Punch was India's highest-selling SUV during the quarter. It added the Curvv SeriesX, the Sierra Legend Series and the all-new Tata Aeris to its portfolio, building on its Q1 launches.
During the quarter, the company also unveiled its new customer-facing identity, TATA.CARS.

Chandra said the company remains optimistic about the festive season, backed by a strong order book and healthy customer traction across its portfolio. "As we progressively scale up production, our focus will be on fully leveraging this demand," he said.
Tata Motors Ltd was renamed Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd effective October 13, 2025, under a Composite Scheme of Arrangement sanctioned by the National Company Law Tribunal, Mumbai Bench. The company's shares trade on the BSE (scrip code 500570) and the NSE under the symbol TMPV.
